Your eyes are bigger than your stomach.

Most of us heard this growing up. Especially at parties or family events, when the table was full and we wanted a little bit of everything. You’d load your plate with this dish and that one, maybe an extra scoop of ice cream too. You were excited… until you got full long before you even tasted most of it.
That’s when the adult in the room would say it.

From food to everyday life

In today’s world, the same thing happens — just not with food.

We’re programmed to want it all and believe we can do it all.

Our tasks, our goals, our plans — everything at once.

The multitasking trap

That’s where multitasking comes in. We tell ourselves it saves time. But more often than not, it does the opposite. Split focus makes us feel busy while actually getting less done. We’re already thinking about the next thing before finishing the one in front of us.

What happens when you focus

When you give your full attention to one thing, something different happens.
You become more effective.
More efficient.
You flow.
Before you know it, the task is done.

Applying this to your goals

This applies to goals too.
When your attention starts wandering and your “eyes get bigger than your stomach,” pause. Remind yourself to pick one. Just like when you were a kid and had to choose a single flavor instead of all of them.

Pick one thing.
Do that.
Then move on.

Fitness is no different

The same goes for fitness.
Pick one exercise.
One goal for the day.
Then move on.

Progress doesn’t come from doing everything.
It comes from doing one thing well — consistently.
